Het is de bedoeling om AR, SAR, MA en SMA op het maximum te zetten, zodat we kunnen nagaan of onze bevindingen van stap 4 wel kloppen.

We zien nu dat her inderdaad om een AR2 proces gaat (en dus niet om AR3, waarover we bij stap 4 nog twijfelden). Er is ook invloed van een seizoenaal MA1 proces (Q).

We kunnen nog twijfelen of we hier ook een MA1 proces hebben, omdat de p-waarde hiervan tussen 1 en 5% ligt. Als we als alpha fout 5% nemen kunnen we dit proces er dus ook nog bijrekenen.

de student hierboven heeft gelijk. AR, MA, SAR, en SMA moeten op het max gezet worden, zodat de software kan uitrekenen welke parameters overbodig zijn. Wij kunnen dan rij per rij, een overbodige 'niet significante' parameter zien afvallen, en zo herberekent de software elke keer alles opnieuw, tot het aan de uiteindelijke uitkomst komt, met de uiteindelijke significante parameters.

Bij AR zien we dan er nog maar 2 parameters overblijven, en eerst twijfelden we nog over 3 (omdat de derde coëfficiënt bijna significant was, als we een andere alpha hadden, lag het betrouwbaarheidsinterval lager, dus lag het streepje van de derde coëfficiënt boven de stippelijn). Nu zien we dat deze derde parameter niet significant is.
Ook zien we dat er een seizoenaal MA patroon is en een niet seizoenaal MA1 proces is dat significant is.
Er zijn dus uiteindelijk 4 parameters.
