Je had gewoon visueel de starplots met elkaar kunnen vergelijken om te besluiten dat er gelijkaardige auto's zijn die tot hetzelfde marktsegment behoren.

Er is gebruik gemaakt van de juiste methode, namelijke het starplot. Zo kan visueel gezien worden welke wagens ongeveer dezelfde karakteristieken hebben. Als de sterren onderling een gelijkaardige vorm hebben, zullen ze de behoeften van eenzelfde segment bevredigen.

Hier is de juiste software gebruikt.

De sleutel tot het identificeren van verschillende categorieën en de auto’s die ertoe behoren ligt erin te zoeken naar gelijkvormige sterren, aangezien dit wil zeggen dat de verschillende wagens dezelfde of gelijkaardige karakteristieken hebben. Zo kunnen we bijvoorbeeld vaststellen dat o.a. wagens 18, 19, 20, 26 en 28 een laag brandstofverbruik hebben.
Wagens 15, 16 en 17 behoren in principe ook tot dezelfde categorie, met o.a. een vrij groot aantal PK’s.
