De bedoeling is hier om te onderzoeken of een 3de reeks invloed heeft op de correlatie tussen 2 andere reeksen.
Een tijdreeks z kan een positief verband hebben met tijdreeks x en een negatief verband vertonen met tijdreeks y. Als z zou stijgen, houdt dit in dat x mee zou stijgen (positieve correlatie) en y zou dalen (negatieve correlatie). Hieruit zou dan besloten kunnen worden dat tijdreeksen x en y onderling een negatief verband zouden hebben. Dit is niet volledig correct aangezien dit 'verband' beïnvloedt wordt door tijdreeks z.
De partiële correlatie duid op de correlatie die er is tussen x en y, maar waaruit de invloed van z word uit gefilterd.

En jouw voorbeeld kan je zien dat de 3 partiële correlaties met ongeveer 20 procent punten afwijkt van de normale correaltie. Dat is best veel.

Dit werd berekend met de foute gegevens. En ook geen uitleg gegeven.
Hier zien we de particial correlation. Dit wil zeggen dat het de invloeden meet van een derde variabele tijdreeks op de andere twee variabelen. Dit laat zien hoe de correlatie is als je die derde variabele eruitlaat. Zo kan er door de invloed van een derde variabele lijken alsof er een goede correlatie en samenhang is tussen de reeksen maar eigenlijk hebben deze reeksen niets met elkaar te maken.

Partial correlation is een eenvoudige interpretatie om 3 variabele te bestuderen.
Bijvoorbeeld: Er is geen verband te zien tussen X,Y. Maar wel met X,Z en Y,Z. Onder invloed van X zal Z dus toenemen als X toeneemt. Dit noemen we een onrechtstreeks verband.

Aangezien de post hiervoor al vermeld wordt dat er met de verkeerde gegevens gewerkt werd, lijkt het me niet zinnig besluiten uit deze berekende correlaties te halen.
