Zoals uitgelegd is het verband tussen werkloosheid en bouwvergunning, dat men minder snel zal bouwen of renoveren als er meer werkloosheid is, aangezien de mensen minder geld hebben om te renoveren/bouwen. Maar dit verband geldt ook andersom, als er minder bouwvergunning worden uitgeschreven, dan zal de werkloosheid stijgen aangezien er minder werk zal zijn in de bouwsector.
